Hello,
I started this discussion on Linkedin when I thought that MediaWiki and the Semantic bundle was the best tool but now I'm thinking that Drupal 7 might work better or work with it. The idea of doing it as a wiki is to encourage collaboration. The first step in this process is to define some ontology(ies) for this. That became clear in the discussions. The idea of a resource directory need a definition. For the scope of this project and who will use it, first the target population: the homeless, needy, persons with mental illness, substance abuse and the groups, organizations, agencies that serve them. I started this with a couple non-profits with which I am affiliated. So, continuing with the idea of the scope of the project, at this point, it is to focus on Organizations and other "resources" that serve this vulnerable population or "resources" that provide some benefit to this population or people. for example information resources online, maps, support groups - in person and online.
As mentioned, it seems very important to categorize or describe this domain, with classes and properties and the types of triples that will result. Classifying or defining the types of organizations... the types of services offered. I started with a class of Organization but that doesn't fit for everything.
We have Neologism for defining vocabularies in Drupal and Protege for doing the same.
I was wondering if anyone who would see this as a good cause could join me and help. I have the MediaWiki site for starters at: http://ourcommunityresources.com/w/
Thanks,
Bruce
